  • Compliance: They are aware of local regulations and zoning codes, ensuring your sign complies with all legal requirements, avoiding potential fines or removal.

Convenience and Time-Saving:

  • Project management: Professionals handle the entire process, from design and permitting to fabrication and installation, saving you time and hassle.
  • Access to specialized equipment: They have access to specialized tools and equipment needed for certain sign types, ensuring a professional finish.

  • Brand consistency: Professionals can help you develop a consistent signage strategy across all your locations, strengthening your brand identity.

While the initial cost of using a professional sign company may seem higher, the long-term benefits in terms of quality, durability, and impact often outweigh the cost savings of a DIY approach. Consider your specific needs, budget, and desired outcome when making your decision.

Importance of Sign Location

Sign location is incredibly important for a variety of reasons, impacting both the effectiveness of the sign and your overall business success. Here are some key points to consider:

Visibility and Attention:

  • Prime location: A well-placed sign is easily seen by your target audience, maximizing its impact. This could mean high-traffic areas, eye-catching positions, or unobstructed sightlines.
  • Attract attention: Strategic placement can grab attention from potential customers, prompting them to engage with your business. Consider factors like size, color, and lighting to increase visibility.

Brand Awareness and Image:

  • Reinforce brand identity: A well-positioned sign becomes part of your brand experience, reinforcing your image and values. Consistency with your overall branding strategy is crucial.
  • Create a professional impression: A high-quality sign in a good location reflects positively on your business, conveying professionalism and credibility to potential customers.

Functionality and Purpose:

  • Clarity and guidance: Signs should effectively communicate their message and guide users where they need to go. A well-located sign ensures information is easily accessible and understood.
  • Safety and compliance: Depending on the sign's purpose (e.g., exit signs, warnings), location is crucial for safety and compliance with regulations.

Additional factors:

  • Target audience: Consider the specific needs and habits of your target audience when choosing a location. For example, placing a restaurant sign near a busy intersection might be more effective than on a quiet side street.
  • Competition: Analyze the signage landscape in your area and choose a location that stands out from competitors while complementing your brand identity.
  • Regulations and permits: Ensure your sign complies with local zoning and safety regulations, which can influence its placement.

In conclusion, the importance of sign location cannot be overstated. By carefully considering the factors mentioned above, you can maximize the effectiveness of your signs, attract more customers, and boost your business success.

Window Graphics

Maximize the window space at your facility with window graphics. Window graphics, along with window wraps and door wraps, are a glass friendly way to visually enhance the blank and empty space created by windows and doors. Use window graphics to welcome fans to your facility on exterior doors, ticketing windows, interior glass, and more. Transform your storefront or promote specific products and promotions with retail window graphics.

Window graphics can be a very practical branding, promotional, and sponsor signage solution as they can provide an added sense of privacy while still conveying the desired message.

A popular option for branding windows and doors with window graphics and door graphics is to use a frosted vinyl version of custom vinyl lettering that gives the appearance of etched glass. This is a great choice if you are looking to visually enhance areas of your facility at a lower cost than a renovation. Window graphics can also be printed on a variety of opaque materials if complete privacy is needed.

The options for window graphics, window wraps, and door wraps are truly endless and are an easy way to make a big impact at your facility.

Large format window graphics offer a flexible, low cost advertising option that:

Reasons To Update Your Companies Signs

1. YOUR BUSINESS NEEDS REBRANDING

Is your current signage failing to clearly communicate what your business does or what it sells? Is your current signage all over the map with regards to design, layout, and colors? Bring some clarity and consistency to your company's image by rebranding.

Successful businesses build a brand for themselves. Your brand should clearly tell your customers who you are and what you do. All of your customs signs should reflect that brand. Building your brand is an important step in helping your customers easily recognize you.

Rebranding could be as simple as choosing an appropriate new graphic such as a pair of scissors for a hair dresser or a cup of coffee for a cafe, and incorporating that image in all of your custom signage.

It could also include choosing a color scheme that portrays a message to your clientele such as using the color blue for a financial institution, indicating that you can help them.

2. YOUR SIGN HAS BEEN DAMAGED AND IT DOESN'T LOOK THE BEST ANYMORE

Over time, even the best-made exterior sign can get damaged. Exposure to the elements year after year can be hard on signage and can cause damage.

Hail storms or strong winds can also do damage to your exterior signage. Or, your sign may have been vandalized and it is now broken or missing parts.

A well-presented, attractive sign will entice a potential customer to come into your business. However, a worn-out, broken, or damaged sign with missing letters may put that same customer off.

3. YOUR SIGN LOOKS OUTDATED

If your sign looks more outdated than all the other signs around it, customers are going to start thinking that your business is also out of date.

You want your sign to be the one that looks the most modern and attractive so it stands out among the rest. A new custom business sign can tell the world that your company is modern and up-to-date, not stuck in the past.

Depending on the type of business you have, you might want a sign that has an old-world or retro design, and that can also look extremely attractive and updated. However, what you don’t want is a sign that looks old because it is worn out or falling apart!

4. YOU'RE NOT GETTING THE BUSINESS YOU WANT FROM YOUR CURRENT SIGN

If your old storefront sign just isn't drawing in the new business that you want it to, then maybe it's time to install new custom signage that will.

Remember that your signage can be one of the most effective marketing tools that you have, and it is relatively inexpensive compared to other forms of advertisement. If your sign isn't as effective as you think it should be, then it’s time to invest in a new one.

5. YOU'VE HAD THE SAME SIGN FOR YEARS

The longer you look at the same sign over and over again, the less effective it can become in some cases.

If visitors have seen the same sign on your storefront year after year, they might eventually block it out. Your sign could stop getting noticed and may stop drawing people into your business.

Give your customers something new to look at and capture their attention. A new business sign is just the thing to get your noticed once again!

No matter what your reasoning is for updating your signs, HQ Signs would be happy to assist!

Vehicle Wraps

Vehicle wraps are a very popular design product for small businesses. The side of their vehicles is a great advertising space that will be seen by many people. It’s basically a mobile billboard with ad space that a business owner only has to pay for once.

A vehicle wrap is a vinyl film that is applied directly over the paint of the vehicle. A vehicle wrap allows you to change the vehicle’s original color or appearance, this process doesn’t take very long and has the bonus of being removable making it relatively easy to return the vehicle to it’s original color/look. Vehicle wraps not only change a vehicles color/appearance but it also protects your paint from sun damage as well as some chips and scratches.

The list of vehicle types that can be wrapped is pretty much endless, but the most common vehicles to wrap are: cars, trucks, SUVs, vans, trailers, buses, box trucks, semi trucks, golf carts, food trucks, etc. So pretty much any vehicle.

There are a few different types of wraps to choose from; the main two are full wraps and partial wraps.

Full wraps are wraps that cover all of the visible paint on the exterior of the vehicle. If you want to change the entire color of your vehicle, or completely cover up the paint it would be a full wrap. Partial wraps are wraps that cover just a section of the visible paint. If you want to change the color of your hood, roof, trunk, etc. it would be considered a partial wrap.

Color change wraps are wraps done using a colored vinyl and is typically used to change/update the color of a vehicle. Color change wraps are single color wraps and come in a huge variety of colors ranging from basic colors like black and red to specialty colors like chrome and metallic. Color change wraps can be done as full wraps or partial wraps. Print wraps are wraps done using white vinyl that has been digital printed with a certain design, color scheme, and or image. Print wraps can be done in multiple colors, designs, images, etc. Print wraps can be done as full wraps or partial wraps.

Commercial wraps are typically done for businesses and can be done as full wraps or partial wraps. Commercial wraps typically cost less than other wrap types because they avoid areas such as door handles which cuts install times down a lot.

 Banners

Long before the advent of digital printing, banners were bound to block letters and clip art style graphics, not quite the best way to glean attention. But today’s banners look incredible and are a great way to promote your business.

An appealing banner compels your audience to stand back and read your message. Banners play a vital role in advertising your business to a large group of people. Whatever you need, from advertising a business, to promoting a brand or announcing a city-wide event, the use of banners are only limited by your creativity.

DURABILITY

Banners are mostly used outdoors. They’re placed on the side of a road, on a pole, or hung somewhere people can see it. Essentially, outdoor banners promote your products and services, increases your brand’s popularity, and draws in customers as effectively as any other marketing method.

It goes without saying that banners are far more durable and long-lasting than cloth or paper. The majority of flyers soon find a home in a trash bin and cloth is a great magnet for dirt. On the other hand, most banners are tear resistant, weatherproof, and enduring. Best of all, they’re simple to install.

If you live in a windy area, punching a few holes helps reduce the surface area, making your banner wind-resistant. UV resistant ink used in digital printing will also keep your banner immune from deterioration or fading colors often caused by direct sunlight exposure for long periods of time. As a result, your banner stays bright far longer, always ready to capture the attention of consumers.

VERSATILE

Banners can either be large or small. They can say what you want, display what you want, and be placed where you want. In short, banners are incredibly versatile. Individuals, businesses, and even cities can all use banners to market, promote, or simply wish a ‘happy birthday’. Because banners are durable and weatherproof, businesses in particular really benefit from the ability to advertise outdoors. Banners can advertise your brand, promote special sales or events to an unlimited number of people. And, it can all be done inexpensively.

This kind of positive publicity is a surefire way to communicate with a wide variety of audience and bolster your brand’s image. Also, because banners are nearly resistant to everything, they can last for years if properly stored and cared for. This is really beneficial for certain industries like catering services or festive businesses that want to celebrate the holidays.

Let HQ Signs create that eye catching banner for you. Remember “A business without a sign is a sign of no business.”

How Bad Signage Can Hurt Your Business

Bad Signage Can make for Bad Business

What does signage do for your business. Good signage can be an effective tool in your Businesses' marketing strategy. With its ability to immediately communicate with customers, demonstrate your brand’s style and tone, and win both attention and foot traffic, signage is one of the most important marketing investments any business can make.

However all signage isn't effective signage, and if you miss the mark with your signage’s message, design, or placement, you could end up wasting all of the effort and money you spent in its creation.

So the question is, What is Bad Signage? Bad signage tends to lack a clear message. Bad signage is usually poorly designed and hard to read, and lastly Bad Signage is dirty or in need for repair. There are other components of bad signage, but for the sake of time we would like to focus on these three key components.

The first component being that your signage lacks a clear message Design, placement, size, and branding are important, but they mean nothing if the central message of your signage is confusing.

According to the Signage Research Foundation’s 2014 study on consumer perceptions of retail signage, nearly 55% of all consumers across every major retail sector — admitted to driving past businesses or dismissing a business altogether if their signage’s message was unclear.

The second key component being that your signage is hard to read. Your sign could look very nice, but the point of signage is that people are supposed to read it and know what your business is an what products and services your business offers.

According to Lektron branding solutions ,some examples of hard to read signage are:
  • Poor choice of location or angle
  • Improper size
  • Text that’s too close together
  • Poor luminance
  • Overly complex fonts
  • Poor contrast of text and background colors
  • Your signage being too close to similar signs
  • Overly busy visual elements
Lastly, the third key component of bad signage is, your signage is dirty or in disrepair. Even if your signage has been expertly designed, perfectly positioned, and has a clear message full of wit and charm, it’s all for nothing if it looks broken or dirty to your customers.
Your Signage is the first impression that your business makes. it is important that the impression be good as it can have an impact on the way customers view your business.
Let HQ Signs diversify the needs of your business. Remember “A business without a sign is a sign of no business.”

Signage trends in 2021

The Signage industry in the year 2021

A new year means new possibilities and new trends. In this post we would like to explore what the signage industry is expected to look like throughout 2021.

The first trend being increased personalization in signage.  According to an article written by Team Linchpin, printing is already a personal service. Primarily, because of the sensitive documents being used. However, an increasing number of businesses have been offering a more personalized approach to the product, with this being seen in a variety of ways.

One of the primary ways that this has been done is through expanded the number of services that a company offers, such as design and layout.  If you change the design and layout and add more details to your signage it creates a more personal brand for your business. Businesses have been taking note of this, which has made the trend speed up in recent months.

The next trend is improved sustainability of your signage.

According to Team Linchpin, Environmental causes have become increasingly more popular among many industries, with this being primarily driven by customer preferences. Printing has been no exception to this, as consumers are beginning to demand less harmful practices.

This has meant that many large companies have begun launching eco-friendly initiatives. There are a variety of ways that this has been done, such as by planting two trees for every one that’s used in the printing process. Using recycled paper is perhaps the most obvious, and easiest way for your signage to become eco- friendly.

In previous years this has not been of great concern but, it’s becoming increasingly more mandatory. As a result, it’s a trend that will affect almost every printing company in the years to come, making it something that each will have to focus on.

The last trend we would like to discuss is 3D- printing. This trend has become increasingly popular in recent years. According to team Linchpin, 3D printers have become increasingly more affordable. While this price is at an all-time low, that doesn’t mean they’re in the grasp of a typical consumer.

This has meant that many printers have begun diversifying and offering the service to their existing client base. Despite its growth, there are still a large number of businesses that don’t provide the service, which means that some companies will be able to capitalize on the market, should they enter it early enough.

Let HQ Signs diversify the needs of your business. Remember “A business without a sign is a sign of no business.”

The History of Signage

                                                  Signage throughout time

Signage is something that we use in our everyday life and it has been around since the beginning of time. It is a very effective form of communication. Signs have been a fundamental tool for businesses, for centuries. Ever since humans began to create tools, products and provide various services, they had to make their business visible to the public. Few marketing products have been used longer than signs; they are basically the first thing that comes into contact with your possible customers and makes your business known.

Humans have used signage tools and devices for hundreds of thousands of years, even before the invention of writing or record keeping. The experts call it Symbolic advertising. Tribesmen scribbled or drew symbols that indicated to others that they had certain products to exchange or sell.

The 19th century brought new technology that changed outdoor signage at its roots. In 1840, the first gas illuminated sign was created for P.T. Barnum’s Museum in Chicago, Illinois. The display could work for more than 5 hours straight, mesmerizing passer-byes. Gas lighting was further used for other signs across North America and Europe.

During the early 1900s, Georges Claude and other physicists worked with neon, a recently discovered rare gas, to create light. The new invention, called a neon tube, quickly became a phenomenon. By the mid 1920s, almost every city in the United States had at least one neon tube outdoor sign.

Signs have always been recognized as symbols of economic activity. From the earliest bow-makers in Ancient Egypt and all the way to the high tech start-ups, every business needed a way to advertise their products to the public. Now, the signage industry is made up of more than 3,000 sign companies in the United States alone and generates and estimated annual revenue of $2 billion. Signage is everywhere, it is constantly changing and evolving. HQ Signs is always here to help your business grow and evolve through signage.

Remember " A business without a sign is a sign of no business."

Different Types of Signage

 Different Types of Signage

The word signage is a broad term. In this post I would like to explore the different types of signage that your business can utilize. Focusing on Wall signs,  A- Frames. Banners, and Window and Floor Graphics. It is important to note that signage comes in many different shapes and sizes, but for the sake of time this blog will focus on those mentioned above.

The first type of signage mentioned was Wall Signs. These signs can be placed inside or on the outside of your office or business location. Wall Signs allow you to give your business a creative edge.. You can use these signs which come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Along with this, they can be illuminated from within, from behind, or from lights shining on the sign. These signs are highly customizable, and the graphics and message you put on these business signages can be customized.

The Second type of signage your business can utilize are A- Frames. They are also known as Side- Walk Signs. A- Frames are the best types of portable business signage that you can get. You can select from different materials, one-sided, two-sided, and other types of sidewalk signs depending on what message you want to put up. The best part about this sign is that you can pick it up and place it wherever you want, whether inside your store or just outside your location of the business. You can place it right outside your store or slightly away. The visible side of the sign can have special announcements, offers, new additions, and much more about your business.

In my opinion when people think of signage they think of the next type of Signage; banners. This type of signage is generally the most cost- effective signage. The reason why these signs are cost-effective is that they can be reused for more than five years of regular use. All you have to do is replace the banner or inserts whenever you have a new offer to advertise or a new announcement to make. The frame of the standee remains the same. And because these business signages are portable, you can place them anywhere inside or outside your business’s location.

Lastly I would like to talk about Window and floor graphics. Window and Floor Graphics include all the stickers and decals you see on a store’s glass walls and flooring. Graphics are ideal to be placed inside, or sometimes outside your business location. Decals on the glass walls attract existing and new customers to your store. The colors and attractive design are very difficult to ignore. Graphics are relatively easy-to-design and easy-to-design signs are very cost-effective and offer a lot of  room for customization.

So let HQ Signs help you find the signage that works for your business.

Remember "A business with no sign, is a sign of no business."

What Signage can do for your business.

It’s important to remember that your logo, your product, or even your services are not the entire experience of your business. Signage is a very effective tool when it comes to branding your business.

Based on an article by business partners magazine there are three key things that signage can do for your business.

The first is, signage can enhance communication. Outdoor signage and window graphics can influence how well a business does.

Signs do more than inform people of your businesses’ location, they also allow for customers to make assumptions of a business according to the quality and attractiveness of their signs. This assumption also carries over to how customers think the quality of your business will be. If your signage is poorly thought out it can really damage the prospects of your business.

The next thing is, Signage can provide your business with a competitive advantage. Standing out is a challenge for any business. Signage can be the differentiator between your business and that of your competitors. A nice storefront sign can attract customers from a distance and draw them into your store.

Lastly, Signage is a great marketing tool that can be a cost- effective tool for your business. Consistency is imperative when using signs as a marketing tool to creatively communicate your campaigns.

Signage will help your brand become more recognizable. It will also allow customers to start a relationship with your business. This, in turn, also increases  the brand loyalty for your business.

So let HQ Signs help you find what works for your business

Remember "A business with no sign, is a sign of no business."

Good Signage

 What Is good Signage?

What does good signage look like? Good signage looks different depending on your business. However, good signage has some consistency regardless of what business it is for.

The consistent characteristics that make signage good are: Size, positioning, content, and legibility. Starting with the size of your sign. Obviously you want you sign to fit the size of your business. If your sign is to small, it becomes virtually impossible to draw customers in. If your sign is too large it can be off putting and take the attention away from your actual business.

The positioning of your sign is extremely important as well. Your sign can be responsible for half of the traffic that comes into your business. If your sign is placed in bad location, your business is likely to see less traffic. If your sign is place in an optimal location your business is likely to see way more traffic.

The content of your sign is another important component. Signs are there to look pleasing, it is important that they catch the eye of your consumers. You want to make sure your sign conveys a good message for your business. It has to entice people to enter you establishment.

Last, but certainly not least legibility. The whole point of your sign being there is for people to read it. If your sign is not legible it does not serve a purpose for your business. It can in fact be off putting to consumers. Entering a business with an illegible sign, makes the business look bad.

So let HQ Signs help you find what works for your business.

Remember "A business with no sign, is a sign of no business."

Why is signage so important for your business?

Signage can do so many things for your business. whether you are just starting out or trying to rebrand your business, signage adds a sophistication to your business. The point of having signage in its simplest form is so people can know that your business is here and ready to help customers with what they need.

Signage is responsible for creating traffic to your stores. How many times have you seen a sign on a storefront and been interested to go inside and take a look. I can personally say that is how I discover some great stores. In a study that Fed Ex did they found that 67% of customers will go into  a store and buy a product simply because a sign caught their eye.

Signage can help your business develop a strong customer base. When businesses first start out they don't immediately have a customer base. So, business owners display signage on their store fronts and around town and those pieces of signage are usually responsible for about 50 percent of their customers.

HQ Signs can help you discover the best uses for Signage in your business!

Remember " A Business with no sign is a sign of no business."

 SUBLIMATION 101

What is Sublimation Printing?

Sublimation printing allows businesses to create customized and personalized full color products on demand. Sublimation printing has been around for decades, but it wasn't until recently that it became an economical and practical way to decorate a variety of products.
Sublimation definition: when a solid material turns into a gas without going through a liquid stage. This means that the artwork is transferred to an object in a gas state by using a high temperature heat press during the dye sublimation printing process. It differs from traditional printing methods because it bypasses the liquid step. There are no inks drying to the printed object.
 How It Works:
The image is first infused onto the source printing paper, leaving little mess and making the whole process quick and easy for dye sublimation printing. Heat is then utilized to transfer the image from the sublimation paper to an object.
Businesses use this style of printing when creating graphics on clothing, as       well as signage, home decorations, company exhibits, and personal items such as coasters, coffee mugs, and keyrings.
Advantages of Sublimation Printing:

Compared with other common printing techniques, dye sublimation printing has a number of advantages:
Continuous tone – Each and every dot of ink in sublimation printing can be a different color. For this reason, sublimated graphics appear high-resolution and have amazing color fidelity, even under a microscope.
No dry time – Sublimation printing on fabric means you can be fold or wear the garment immediately after it leaves the press without having to worry about smearing the ink.
Fewer moving parts – Presses are simple machines, and the thermal print head doesn’t need to move back and forth over the print media. This means sublimation printers are less likely to break down.
No mess – No liquid ink means no spills and no clean up.
Fade-free – Sublimated dye impregnates and becomes part of the plastic. It will not fade or degrade the plastic, and the colors will not run if exposed to water.
Seam-to-seam printing – Sublimation printing can work for even the most intricate shapes, allowing you to print the entire fabric of a garment.

High Resolution Images

High Resolution Images

There is nothing more dissapointing than viewing a brand new sign with low resolution images.  Since 2009 this has been a main issue with clients.  Sometimes it is acceptable to provide a cell phone picture for your project, but if you intend on print an image larger than 12 inches, you should seriously consider having your photographs taken by a professional.  This will not only ensure that your image is high resolution but the images provided by the professional can be used for all of your marketing material.

An image is high resolution (or high res) at 300 dpi. Anything 300 dpi or above is considered high res and anything under 300 dpi is considered low res. 72 dpi is the standard for low resolution or “screen resolution.”

High resolution as described by the dictionary is a display or a photographic or video image showing a large amount of detail. There is a difference between lo- and hi-res. It can determine whether your company logo looks fuzzy vs. crystal clear.

Lower resolution images can be used for web. It is important to begin with the highest resolution and image dimensions you can get. You can always reduce size without losing quality.  No, you cannot change a low resolution to be high resolution in graphic design. There is no way to add pixels to a low resolution image.

Now since you have had an overview of high resolution vs. low resolution, always send the send the highest quality file.  When in doubt, just give us a call and we will be happy to walk you through the process.

What is the benefit of professional graphic design?

Graphic design offers a wide range of benefits, both for businesses Brand building and identity: Graphic design helps busines...
